EDUCATOR BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Need quick background concepts to get up to speed on teaching oceanography fast? Our background information section contains detailed information on five oceanographic topics, each tied to the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and to the themes of Systems and Structures, Energy, Change, Interactions, and Measurement.
USING THE WEB IN THE CLASSROOM
How do you use information from the world-wide web in your classroom? What if you only have one computer in the classroom? Find out an answer in this section! It provides an excellent source of how-to's and how-not-to's regarding setting up a classroom with widely varying levels of resources. The system was developed by Margaret Hammer, an OceanWorld cofounder, and now professor of science methods at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, TX.
Associated with each of the background information sections are five Classroom Activities built on the common themes of: Systems and Structures, Energy, Change, Interactions, and Measurement. These Classroom Activities are intended to be a starting off point to mold or change to fit your the needs of your class.
